Ingredients and Packaging

At Alpaca Soaps we are VERY serious about our ingredients and our packaging.

INGREDIENTS

We are committed to using the most natural ingredients possible, free from petroleum products, parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. When choosing ingredients, we ask ourselves several questions. Is it zero or very low toxicity? Does it perform well? Are we limiting our strain on the environment (palm oils, essential oils, unnecessary packaging)? Is there a more natural product, or one with a lower environmental impact that can do the same thing? Will our customer love it?

Most of our scary-sounding ingredients are derived from the humble coconut, so not scary at all. For your safety, products that include water (lotions and scrubs) contain preservatives that will keep you safe and that are low-toxicity. In addition, we are working on a fragrance-free, color-free product line because we understand that fragrances can be an issue for people with very sensitive skin. Currently, our Lavender and Lemon Verbena lines and Tinglemint Bar Soap are scented primarily with essential oils.

Bar Soaps

Got Your Goat: 100% goat's milk (replaces the water during the saponification), no Colorants
Earthy Mother: Moroccan Red Clay, French Green Clay, Rose Clay, no colorants
Tinglemint: Menthol, Peppermint Essential Oil, no colorants

Lotions

INGREDIENTS: Distilled Water, Grape Seed Oil, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Polysorbate 60 (emulsifier), Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol (preservatives), Fragrance

Foaming Sugar Scrubs

INGREDIENTS: Cane Sugar, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Glycerine, Distilled Water,Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol (preservatives), Fragrance

Lip Balms

INGREDIENTS: Carefully sourced beeswax, cold-pressed jojoba oil, organic cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, organic castor oil, and essential oils and natural flavors.

Dog Shampoo (Sienna)

PACKAGING

Our goal at AlpacaSoaps is to stay as green as economically possible. We care about the environment. We care about how we leave this planet for generations to come. We care about using the right kinds of packaging. We share our customer’s concerns about single use packaging. We have searching for and found packaging that is practical, limited in plastic use, bio-degradable, reusable, recyclable and also attractive. We are not a zero-waste operation but we do consider waste and its effect on the environment when we are packing up our orders.

So when it comes to our limited use of plastic, we take into consideration this expression: “Don’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good when it comes to plastic waste.” Therefore, when we use plastic, we consider its actual weight and in doing so we are limiting the amount of plastic finding its way into the landfills. We package our lotions in super lightweight plastic containers. We chose our lotion packaging for three reasons: 1.) it is super lightweight 2.) making it limited plastic waste and 3.) it is smart package… you won’t miss a drop of lotion.

Similarly, in order to preserve the integrity of our products that contain easily oxidized oils, we have chosen to wrap them in biolefin. The manufacturer of biolefin claims that it is 100% biodegradable and is broken down into its constituent parts resulting in no micro plastic pollution.
